Mother Earth News reports that Toyota (that Japanese company) will begin manufacturing hybrid Prius cars in Mississippi in 2010.
That’s great news — more hybrids available in the US and more jobs in one fell swoop.
See, green(er) technology does create jobs!
I’m glad they are here in the US, but I’m sad they are making them in Mississippi instead of my state.
I think the governor of SC offered to sacrifice a hundred unmarried non-virgins to get this plant, but it didn’t work. I’ve lived to complain about him for another day.
I think this is great, though. And even if it didn’t go to my poor state, it did go to a poor state. Mississippi makes SC look like the Riviera.
I wonder if this will bring the price down at all? It has gone up at an alarming rate in the past two years. The 2009 model will be at least $8500 more than I paid in 2007 for the same extras. I think that’s a really sharp rise.
