Limestone and Global Warming
July 31, 2008 by kmcdade
Just heard about this from one of my tweeps — an open-source solution for global warming. I’m on a deadline, so didn’t look closely — but if you have time, take a look and report back on your thoughts.

I know a bit about cquestrate. As I understand it the theory stacks up if we can solve some technical problems So they key is that the solution is designed to make any intellectual property creative commons. The key thing is encouragement from those of us who are generalists and input from experts in:
* Geology
* Mining
* Bulk Transport
* Lime Manufacturing
* Chemical Engineering
* Ocean Chemistry
* Economics
* Law
* Environmental Assessment
* Energy
* Open Source Development
Thanks, Nick — can you elaborate on any of the technical issues?
(also, Nick has his own post about Cquestrate)
Hi Kathleen, thanks for picking up on this.
The technical issues Nick mentions are laid out here – http://www.cquestrate.com/get-involved – and cover such things as the suitable energy sources, the environmental implications and the potential locations.
As Nick says, the chemistry behind the process is sound – it’s the real world practicalities and implications that need to be addressed/understood.
If anyone can help answer any of the questions posed on the website then we’d be very grateful. If not then we’d appreciate people spreading the word to those who could.
